Richard Williams described proper art as being very like sculpture. This is kind of what I think he meant (and not in that it looks like stone) in that it has great depth and the shapes feel like you carved out detail. I don't know why but the face and the hair have this a lot more than the neck. And I feel bad criticizing that, because honestly it's better than what I make. It really is excellent. and the snakes are a very fun detail.

SPLATTERBRAIN responds:

Thanks! Paint like a sculptor. It gets easier to do the more values and lighting studies you do.

Looks like you had a little trouble with her right foot/ankle and the right shoulder/breast as well. I really do like the shading on the calf muscle though.

NanyDonovan responds:

Thanks...still trying to practice, but i'll get there eventually

I like the sallet-based design of the helmet...though you're saying it's based on DOOM multiplayer so I dunno how much credit to give you for that. Nicely drawn, I think you could stand to incorporate more of a metallic finish for the lighting, even if it's sort of a matte paint, but I can't criticize too much because I've never been great at that myself.

TheJoshMatlock responds:

Thank you! The helmet is very loosely based on the Devout Templar helmet from DOOM, however, since I enjoy putting my own spin on things, I felt the Templar helmet was too plain and needed a more armored look. I also changed a great deal of the original structure and completely redesigned it to seem more functional in appearance. The armor is a redesign of the UAC Raven armor. The spaulder (shoulder armor) is my original design. The under armor is well... sloppy, but also my design. I do agree about the metallic finish. The only reason I chose to do it this way was/is I'm still working on metallic surfaces and lighting. No matter what I did it just didn't look right, so behold, the matte finish.

Yeah..."meat"-grinderclock...

Luwano responds:

"Human meat, still on body"?

That's pretty much how I've felt every single time I've drawn an astronaut.

RenegadeClock responds:

That one time. :o

Joke's on BB10, I find him CHARMING

RenegadeClock responds:

Lucky charming; like the cereal! I just want to eat him up! NOMNOMNOMNOM

thanks for the review :D

Not bad

I think you got the shine on his muscles spot-on. The anatomy is quite off and the lines are very rough, but damn I just can't stop looking at how nice that shine turned out.

I've played street fighter for quite a while, and I'm sure some nerd even bigger than me is going to pounce on me for this question, what is with the pickles?

deadspread83 responds:

The pickles are really nothing. If you look at my Losers Vol. 1 you'll see the animation I made to go along with this. That's as far as the connection goes.

That's pretty nice actually.

The perspective of the knife and the axe are a little off (the knife more than the axe) I like the teeth a lot, they're very nice looking, I'd like to see how it looks with slightly bolder shading.

The eye on the white one seems a little off, specifically if that's a pupil then why would there be wrinkles on the white? But I can't really criticize you for that it's a monstrous creature with bizarre anatomy. The expressions are great, the hands are wonderfully gnarly, the whole thing is composed very nicely.

UnderARock responds:

thanks for the review man, I know what your talking about with the knife and the axe. I remember thinking about fixing it before I sent it in for the contest, I mustve forgot or something :B

Eh

Simplicity is forgivable when coupled with originality.

JoSilver responds:

But originality can only be defined by ones own experiences...

fffffffffffffff
